my boy strained a tendon in october 06, he was on completed box rest till feb/march 07 and only did light/ local showing last year and small workers courses at the back end of the season aug/sept ..
every now and again he starts "feeling" that leg again .. ive had the vet check him over and he has said its heeled very well, so what can the problem be ? could it all be in his head ?
unforunatly my boy is a bit accident prone and has had a tendon/kick and nail injury all in the same leg !
i had a lesson last night and he started on it again, he goes all shuffly on it and wont stretch or anything and puts it down funny to his other leg but isnt lame ?
any advice ?

If the vet is happy that it has healed have you had a chiro or physio work with him on vet's referral to see if you can find any stiffness or soreness that could have come up in the area if he was holding himself differently for a long time while it healed?

Mine did a hind suspensory four years ago yet still maintains he cannot track under with it. We've had it re scanned and it's completely healed, sadly my horse doesn't believe me. He's not lame simply always stiffer on that leg and less willing to work. I've simply accepted it. If you are sure there is nothing wrong you simply have to patiently work them through it.

it was scanned after he did it and the vet said it was all clear but i am wondering whether to get it done again ! my boy is a whimp anyway but i show him and i cant keep him going like this for much longer ...

I'd def get it scanned again, even if just to be on the safe side. You don't want to do any more damage if it is the tendon. You know how your horse feels more than the vet does.

I agree, definitely get it re-scanned. If the tendon problem is in a position where you can easily get a good ultrasound image, there is no excuse for not constantly monitoring healing by re-scanning at intervals. I would give my right arm to be able to see how Maiden's tendon is doing now, but because of the position of the tear it cannot be ultrasound scanned and I simply can't afford another £1200+ for MRI again.
