Well I think my horse has it (quite badly atm), so I am wondering about investing in a pair of these for him, only not sure if they will do any good.

Our fields are quite muddy and waterlogged in places... quite deep to. Does mud/water go up the inside of the boots? Obv not worth buying them if it will

i asked this too, was told by one person thet are RUBBISH!, only in stronger words, they used to fall down the mares legs apparently.

what IS good stuff though is keratex mud shield powder, id recommend that every time

I know a lot of people really rate them. And having a horse myself that i've really lost the battle on mud fever with - I have thought about them.

However, obviously they can't be used whilst the horse has mud fever - so not an option for me this year. But one I may consider for next year.

Rafi really suffered with mudfever for over a year, we tried everything , the vets tried everything. He would seem to get better then it would flare again.Eventually earlier this year we bought sportabac turnout boots and kerritex mudfever powder and he immediately started to heal.He is out during the day and in at night. His legs are always clean and dry.It does say not to use them until mudfever has gone but I can only tell you how mine worked out.
He has 3 sets of boots .They have to be washed and dried each night but as my daughter sometimes does them and me other times so we need spare sets.
His legs are now perfect and clean which is a bonus

All our horses had them on the last yard i was at. Both for mud fever protection and to stop minor nicks and cuts.

I assumed you needed mud fever free legs to use them but ive read numerous times on here where people have started using them anyway.

I didnt like the sportabac ones as we had a few flip up at the bottoms and let the mud in. One horse was rubbed by them also. We mainly used the equilibria turnout chaps and had no problems with them at all.

One thing to be aware of - they do need washing every single day after you've taken them off. We used to throw all ours in the washing machine and they'd be dry again by morning. Our vet did advise to machine wash them to kill off any nasties in the mud.

nope they were on quite tight wouldnt want them tighter.
Wasnt sure if it was because she had clipped legs as they were slightley better on my finer mare

tried both the equichaps & sportabrac ones - didn't like either - they both sucked up mud! So reverted back to good old sudacrem - worked a treat!

equilibrium close contact boots work really well! I have had them on my 17.2 warmblood and 12.2 welsh for over a year now, they only have one set each and are out for 12 hours a day.

really hard wearing and if hung up overnight dry out and can be brushed off
