This is one for the coloured showing experts out there..! I've got a couple of piebald youngsters, in training at the moment and will be sold once broken and had some life experience. I'm aware that they're not top showing stock, but I'd like to turn them out properly according to their type and perhaps do some local shows with them. Can anyone advise me on how they should be trimmed/turned out? Pics below - Cody is the chunkier, less hairy one with more black on him. He's about 14.3 at the moment but very bum-high so should put a bit more on. He's a solid little unit but with a nice fine head, and not very hairy. He's got TB, shire, welsh and vanner in him.
Monty is the hairier one with not much black - he's about 15/15.1 at the moment, quite hairy but not really thick feathers, long mane, lovely paces.
Both are 3, 4 this summer.

My guess at the moment is to hog and trim Cody, or perhaps just pull his mane. Monty - He's kind of got a vanner/traditional look about him but then is quite fine and not got a lot of feather so I'm not sure what to do with him.

Any advice would be appreciated!!

Show traditional if you're selling as feathers/mane will take a while to regrow and potential owners will want to choose, maybe. If ridden, plait. Really like Cody!

Mine at a local show traditional:

Good point re. growing out time. Cody is nice - I hope he grows another inch or two! Lovely character and loves people.

I'm not sure what to do with Monty's mane - I think it looks messy, especially as he's got no neck yet, makes him look like the sort you see on a tether on the side of the motorway! But when I threatened to pull/trim it I was met with horror and protests by the rest of the yard! Which made me think potential buyers might like it long..
