Having a blonde moment here. Do you measure inside the bit rings..ie only the part that is inside the mouth?

Is this French link a 5 3/4"?

Are Waterford's measured the same way. If they are am I right in thinking this is a 5 1/2 "?

I've confuddled myself as I've ordered these online and the French link is tagged up as 5 1/2" and the Waterford was supposed to be sent as a 6".

Just want to clarify before I query it with seller. Wouldn't like to look a berk!

(which I know I already look for asking the question)

Yes that's how I would mesure them. From the inside of the bit ring, accross the bit to the inside of the ring at the other side. The way your tape is in the pic.

Blinking heck! I thought so!

That makes the french link 5 3/4 and the waterford 5 1/2.

They got BOTH bits wrong!!!!

Looking at those 2 pics, then I would say that the lozenge bit is between a 5 1/2 and 5 3/4 and the waterford is between 5 1/4 and 5 1/2 - there is no way it is 6 inches!

Lol.

It's not a 6". Definitely only a 5 3/4 if I'm measuring the right way. Been looking forward to getting these bits to try as well.

Damn blinking pain in the bum!!!!!!! Why is it EVERYTHING I buy comes incorrectly supplied!

Are you going to return the lozenge bit? What's it made out of? Not that I'm interested or anything ...........

I couldn't take the picture from directly above as the flash just shone back off the tape meaning you can't read the numbers.

From inside edge of bit ring to bit ring the French link was bang on 5 3/4 and the Waterford was bang on 5 1/2 if I completely straighten the ball bits out. (didn't have enough hands to hold tape, bit and camera! LOL

I'm very annoyed!

Ha ha. It's Sweet Iron with a copper centre lozenge.

Lucy_Spring has already shown an interest in that depending on how much I paid for it (through another site I might add just in case admin thinks I'm doing a deal on here)...which I can't remember....off to check ebay receipt! LOL

What, you mean you were unable to multitask???? Sorry, couldn't resist!! I'd be well annoyed too!!

I bought a pelham off Ebay as a 62. Was closer to 5" and didn't fit Rosie at all. Think that the seller had been mesuring from the the inside of the bit rings instead of from the outside, if that makes sense...

But if you can it get exchanged for the right size Patches, then thats fine with me.

Yeah, I was told to add half an inch. Hence why the waterford was supposed to be 6" and the French link a 5 1/2"

Damn Ebay!

You are measuring them correctly, you've got a 5 3/4 & a 5 1/2" bit there. If they were advertised as anthing other than that they were wrongly sized.

Thankyou Toby_Zaphod.

Indeed they were wrongly sized. The Waterford should be a 6" bit and the French link a 5 1/2".

As Chambon so wonderfully put it....a man was selling them!

You've measured them correctly. & yes you need to order a half inch bigger on the waterfords to your normal bit size but it does need to be half an inch bigger not just added on by mouth!! LOL
