This morning my friend kindly put my pony out for me so I went to the field to check him. There have been two new arrivals at the weekend so I just wanted to check he was OK. When I was about half way across the field one of the new horses came running over to me so I stood still and he came up to me.I thought he was being a bit nosey so put my hand out for him and he grabbed my scarf that was tied round my neck and started pulling it. I pulled it out of his mouth as I didn't want to be strangled and he reared up a little bit and made a grab for my hand which I pulled away and I shouted at him so he grabbed my arm instead and bit me. I really shouted at him then (I'm not a quiet soul) and he trotted off. Luckily I had a thick coat on so he didn't break the skin but my arms a bit sore and swollen. Have text YO to tell him what happened but I don't know if I'm over reacting or not, it did scare me though!!

Think it was the right thing to warn the YO - she can then warn the other liveries that this has happened so they can be careful of the new ones. Maybe it was just being funny because it's just arrived, but you can't be too careful.

Thanks for that, that's what I was wondering, but I'm not going to allow my son in the field on his own again, this horse is about 16hh and I don't think he would have the confidence to deal with it. He's used to the others as they are a nice lot of horses.

i would say something to the owner as this could turn into a dangerous situation and i wouldnt stand for it .

I think you did right letting the YO know, however you should give the horse time to settle first gefore you start saying things to the owner, or suggesting moving horses etc.

Have just spoken to YO and apparently owners of horse seem to have had concerns about him as they said they wanted to know about any problems as there are issues with his behaviour. I honestly think he was trying to play with me as he wasn't displaying any aggresive behaviour, but he hurt me and wouldn't stop when I shouted at him which is the worrying thing. Anyway YO is going to talk to them about him which is good.

even no that he may be only playing i would take the risk as this kind of attitude can turn narsty glad to here that there going to speak to owners about him

YO spoke to owner this evening and apparently they have a muzzle for him which they are going to put on him. There is also talk about sending him away to sort his behaviour out.

good to here that there going to do something as ive none this to happen before and the owners did nothing till one day a girl got kick in leg and broke it

OMG!!! I don't think I'll be letting my son fetch our pony in on his own until things are sorted out which is a shame as he has just recently got the confidence to do that. Our boy is daft as a brush and my son can do anything with him.
