Advice please from Cheshire(ish) people!!

Right, as our lovely little 4yo mare still isn't sold, my boss has agreed to let me compete her to get her out and about a bit. I'm planning to do a few dressage classes and some unaffiliated show jumping, but my problem is that I've no idea what competitions are on when and where. I went to our tack shop and got a couple of schedules, but there isn't all that much in there, and my online search wasn't very fruitful either. So, I was wondering whether anyone on here knows of any comps in the area in the next few weeks or knows where the best place to look would be?
Also, if I want to do riding club comps I obviously would have to join a RC, but is it frowned upon if you don't actually go there for lessons etc.?
Sorry if I'm being a bit pathetic, but I've never competed at anything other than point-to-pointing, so I haven't got a clue what I'm doing.

Good luck finding some! There ARE loads - it's just this sodding weather that is causing a lot of them to be cancelled.

Riding club is a great way to start, its not like pony club, you can just go to a show, dont need to become a member just turn up and do the classes you want, lessons not compulsory. have fun if you can find anything on after all the rain

Also with RC shows you dont have to be a member, most of them have open shows so anyone can go along, usally entry fees are a little more for non members though.

I dont know where abouts in Cheshire you are but im a member of this club http://www.wirralridingandtrainingclub.com/ They welcome anyone and their summer shows are fantastic.

I shall go and get some entries sent off and pray for dry weather. At least a lot of the SJ stuff can be entered on the day so I won't lose any money

We usually only go to Bridgewater, Antrobus and Laffak, but now i've finished uni, i'm hoping to be out every weekend (if it ever stops raining), so Brookhead, Wirral, Simonswood, Bold, etc as well.
