Hello all. I'm still in the early stages of my suspicions here, but its not something I've had an issue with before so its new territory for me. My new horse is 16hh full TB. I've had him a few months now but we've done very little as first he stained a muscle and then he got an abscess. When I got him I purchased a 2nd hand Albion Jump saddle from my fitter and we agreed that I'd use it with a big Lemieux half pad under it as it was a touch wide but he didn't have much topline and needed room to build that muscle up. I always ride with a breastplate for this reason and whilst the saddle might shift back a fraction (I think really just settling into the right place tbh!), it doesn't slip right back. However the girth always looks farther back when I come back from a hack etc. I assume its now just sitting in his natural girth groove which is quite far back.

So - any suggestions? Do I need to look at a different type of girth - if so, what? The saddle is an old Albion Legend (quite forward cut) being used with one of those Wintec chafeless girths. I noticed this morning that the same thing happens in his lunging roller.

Any help and advice much appreciated, thank you in advance!

Any pictures? I have the same saddle and depending on the girth it does make it look like its a bit far back but nothing major, maybe it is just where his girth groove is. A friends horse has a far back girth groove and she was advised to get a curved girth to 'hold it in place' and it helped:)
