I'm not sure where to start really, but I feel like I really need a break from horse ownership for a bit.
My mare lost her foal last month and this has really hit me hard (as it would) I'm on full livery at the moment but due to work commitments I'm only seeing her and riding at the weekends - and even then it seems like I barely spend time with her cos I'm busy with other things/busy with my OH etc. and I mean, OH is fabulous as he really gets involved etc.
I love my mare to bits (of course) but I'm wondering whether I can truly give her what she needs at the moment. plus, from a financial point of view, it's causing a big strain and I feel like I'm almost....wasting money becuase I am only riding/spending time with at weekends. there's no way i can see her after work/before work for various reasons.
she's 16h, coming up to 13 years old. By Jumbo. jumps. nice work on the flat. needs work as she can be tricky and she's only just come back into work after having her baby. Has quirks - (as Jumbo babies so often do!) but is SO affectionate and loving. A real people horse. I don't know whether she might benefit to go to either someone who can proffesionally bring her on to her FULL potential (which I clearly do not have the time to do...or the experience for that matter) or maybe as a broodmare (her baby dying was nothing to do with her)
I just don't know anymore. I feel like I really need to think about ME for once and whilst I love her to bits, I feel like I need some time out.
Any thoughts/advice really appreciated.
