Last night I got my poor horse out the field to find a long graze on his neck, assuming its a kick. No blood, just grazed skin and the muscle around is a little swollen, he has no bother eating/ drinking so I'm not too concerned because today it is already starting to go down.
However, at the top of is neck, around the area where you'd put the throat lash he has a lump about the size of 3grapes (can't think of anything else! :o) it is a solid lump, very very firm and can be moved around quite a bit, it is also less noticible if at all when hes bending down. no heat. any ideas?

think the first is probably a bite (from another horse) and the second swellings roung the throat lash area could be grazing glands. grass has had a flush due to the rain after the dry spell. as he is eating and drinking ok, and taking that he is pooing normally i would monitor him for 24 hrs. might be an idea to take his temp. Any snot? i would just check him religiously over the next 24 hrs, the grass is coming good now.

thank you very much :)
No snot, I will definately keep an eye of him.
Yes grass has had a flush, just thought it was a bit of coincidence that it appeared when he had been bitten/kicked, but i may just have noticed it when i was checking around his neck area.
Hopefully is just grass glands! :)
