When i clean my boys sheath...i used to have to twitch him....he used to go mad...so the twitch for the time being was the way around it...he has nw learnt to tolerate it

As a last resort I might have to go down that road but would like to try without doing that, I wondered about using a sponge on a stick, like you use for washing up! Only wouldn't be doing the cutlery ! just the tackle!!

I just do it with my hand on all 5 geldings. I think because I regularly remove flies with my hand they realise that it is actually a relief rather than anything else and just stand and let me do it. Even the ones who will not allow you to get near with a spray will stand quietly, loose in the field, and allow me to 'do their bits'. The mares with their udders are the worst! If you start by standing half way down his body and just stroking under his belly in long sweeps, stroke the inside of the thigh high up and then just continue the strokes to the bits you want to deal with. If you do it whilst all those horrid midges are around, trust me, they will love you for it!
