Hi everyone, I hope you can give me some advice as I'm not sure the best way forward with my horse/land situation and it's getting me down!! I have 1 14hh retired NF mare her 11hh shetland X companion and my 15.2hh TBx NF. We moved up from Kent over a year ago and I keep them at my Mum and Dad's house, they have 1.5acres. All through the summer I was bringing them in every night and still am now but there is still no grass and just mud which isn't too bad for my old mare as she is lami-prone but for my TBxNF who I ride regularly it's a bit of a nightmare getting him ready or trying to exercise him in the week as there is no area to school him in and hacking isn't an option as it's pitch black when I get in from work! Last year I had him on livery but that was DIY and it got too much doing him after work and then going on to doing the other 2 (My Mum and Dad are often away and don't have much to do with the horses) and then going home and doing it all in reverse every morning! I was wondering whether I could look into full livery for TBxNF but that would be a very expensive option and a lot of people have problems at livery yards, I also wouldn't get to see him very often? Or maybe I should just leave things as they are, keep bringing them all in everyday and accept he is going to be muddy and not that fit in winter and just be happy I don't have to pay for livery?! I'm really not sure and wondered if anyone had any ideas or advice, do any of you keep horses in different places and work full time? Thanks, sorry so long!!
