My horse has always walked off whilst I mount, not a good habit but never casued a problem untill last monday. when she walked off earlier than normaly and between us I lost balance and she bucked and I ended up on the floor

She would not go near mountimg block after this think we scared each other. Have spent all week going to block getting her to stand feeding a polo, have ridden this week and mounted whilst someone holds her head and feed a polo, she has not moved a muscle

My problem now is she will not stand at block whilst I try to mount unless someone is holding head, swings bum out, walks back etc

So advice please as I dont always have someone to hold her head - thanks

Well as you now know, you should have stopped the bad habit much earlier but you didn't so you will have to work with what you've got.
For the moment you WILL need a friend to help, you will need to desensitise her to being on her own with you at the block.
Have you got a portable block available? That would be your next step, I feel. Have the friend available but not holding the horse while you mount from the portable block. When this is established, move the portable block nearer and nearer to the fixed block.
If this method doesn't work, another method I have used successfully is to block the horse in a 3-sided straw bale box. the helper then moves the front/side of the box, or you rein back to get out of the box.
When you are back to mounting on your own, do not tolerate any movement whatsoever until you are ready to move off. I teach my horses to stand at the block while I tighten the girths and put my gloves on. I reward with a treat from the saddle. It doesn't usually take very long for them to get the idea.

Good luck!
