I am due to show my skewbald warmblood in coloured & riding horse classes this summer. He is normally ridden in a black bridle with a flash as he tends to get his tongue over the bit. I have read however that he should be shown in a brown bridle with a plain cavesson noseband. Would I be marked down for my flash and/or black bridle or do I risk him having a hissy fit if he panics after getting his tongue over the bit? Oh dear, what to do!

If your showing locally your probably get away with it, if it's a judge that has'nt got much showing experience, but if you want to do well or show at county, you must use a brown bridle with plain nose band, you could try changing his bit, my horse use to get his tounge over the bit, and i changed him to a pelham with a peanut in the middle, a loose rolla ball for him to play with, it stopped him straight away, also pull his bit up a notch.
