As some of you know my horse went lame and has been in horsepital having tests and MRI, I now have the results and wonder if any of you have dealt with anything similar.
Diagnosis is Collateral Ligament damage to both front feet in the coffin joint, also an injury to the sesamoid(sp) ligament or tendon that wraps round it (sorry haven't got the written report yet!)
Treatment is 6 months box rest, shock wave therapy to the sesamoid and also the coffin joints, the IRAP injections into the coffin joints.
The horse is 4 years old, he is coping with box rest at the moment, the problem is, is that my YO seems to think I'm crazy to box rest and should have him turned out. Vets have now said due to the findings he is not even allowed in hand grazing as must not be moved.
I am very happy to do whatever the vet suggests as I want the best recovery for him, but would like to hear from anyone who has dealt with these injuries before and if the results have been good.
Thanks
