I measured my stable today for rubber matting.
We have long narrow stables, its 9 foot in width, didn't measure the length.
So I was thinking I could either use these:

At 3 foot by 3 foot, I could use 9 of them to fit the back of the stable.

Or I could use these:

But this would mean there was a foot gap on one side under the bank? Would they slip?

I am using shavings for the first time this year, and she will always have a full bed so the thickness isn't too much of a problem. I think I will be deep littering to save shavings, getting rid of all the dirty on a wkd
Also, there is no drainage in my stable so will it be a big problem with mats?
Are they worth the money?

mats are nice to have but if still giving a nice bed for pony, dont save time or money, just like a mattress topper but underneath! i hate seeing mats with a sprinkle of shavings = dirty smelly stable, crusty stinky rugs and a smelly horse! i would rather have a muddy happy one!!!

worth every penny, they keep the stable warmer and i never have to worry about my boy being exposed to hard cold floor as he would always scrape his bed back no matter how hard i tried to keep a deep litter! I also think this has helped with his arthritis. I have half a bed of shavings and use 1 bale per week. I have a gap at the front to let any excess water drain from his hay and dont find they slip.
