Advice please

Horse was bitten approx 2 months ago just behind elbow very close to where girth sits. Dissappeared completely and then re-appeared 10 days ago. Very hard nodule about the size of a golf ball and hot to touch. vet came out on tuesday and injected cortisone under lump and he's on a course of antibiotics. Lump is now the size of a marble and still hard. I have got a fleece girth gaurd. Would you try riding now or wait until it goes completely. Vet did give option of cutting it out but not sure if I want to go down this route straight away.

Did the vet indicate whether it is likely to completely disappear and whether it may be causing any discomfort? I would be tempted to wait a while longer especially if still on the antibiotics to see if it gets smaller or clears up completely.
