Hi again, I swear I spend more time in the Veterinary section than anywhere else. Bloody horses!:mad:

Posted about horse that had punctured sole a few days ago. He's making really good progress but the inside of the leg with the wound still feels a little warm and is slightly 'up'. He's not sore on it when I give it a firm poke. I asked my old livery manager about it earlier today when I bumbed in to her out shopping and she reconed it ould just be the artery/vein (cant remember which one!) is just pumping extra blood down there to help get rid of the infection. Im just terrified he has done something else as both my ponies are just never endiing vet bills atm!!! Oh also ment to add he is no longer hoping lame :D just slightly in trot

Vet is out soon to check progress of horse with tendon sheath problems so can get her to have a look then but would like to hear your opinions too.
 
Could be a little bit of infection, but inflammation and heat is the bodies way of healing so the YO could be right that it is just increased blood flow to help the wound heal. If possible cold hose it or use a cooling boot thingy to bring down swelling, if it gets very hot and swollen might be worth getting the vet to check it sooner rather than later.

It's rather odd as im sure i can feel a pulse in there. I have to admit I really do need to read up more about horse's legs!:rolleyes:

Rang vet today as he wanted me to let him know how 'Melman' (the giraffe from the film Madagasgar...as he's always requirering vet treatment/has a very long neck!) is getting on. He's going to come out tommorow to have another look. I think I've gotten to the point where i've spent so much on vet fees that I just dont care anymore....hello overdraft!:eek:

Sounds like you've already got a vet to come and check it, best way to put your mind at rest. I wouldn't be surprised to see filling here after a sole puncture though, so try not to worry.
