My daughter is keeping her first pony with a friends pony. She's only had it a few months and continues to build up a bond with her new pony. I'm concerned about her friend - she is wanting to do things with my daughters pony e.g. join up. Will this confuse her pony? And is there any reason why she should be doing this? Her friend does look after her when we go on holiday but she is not asked to do any work with her - only check on her. I don't know if I'm being silly for not feeling that this is right.

I dont think you are being silly,it is your daughters new pony and she needs to get to know him.
I would imagine the friend is trying to show she is the more experienced pony owner!!
I would think a quiet word, that your daughter needs to be allowed to care for her pony by herself for now ,would be enough.
Ask for their advice about something occasionally and they will feel less likely to interfere.;)
