Hi I have a pony who may have EMS Equine metabolic syndrome and would appreciate any advice to the pro's and cons of having her tested (quite expensive I believe). Apart from being a very odd shape (pot belly with ribs visible and fat pads at top of tail, hips and over eyes) she appears to be perfectly healthy. I follow a low sugar diet, feeding soaked hay, very limited old pasture, magnesium, salt, multi vits and mins and she is lunged four times a week (although as the winter comes I can only exercise her at the weekend as I have no lights/school etc). She has had laminitis in the past (three years ago) and this current diet/exercise regime seems to work for her. So do I test or not? That is the question. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Thank you X
