depending on what your area is like for livery , i'd look for livery first , by me there are several yards but all the good ones are full. i would hate to find a horse and then find i had nowhere to keep it
I'd try to find livery first too, and also do research into local vets, EDTs and farriers so when you do find a horse you have contacts for those kinds of people so you can get things in place for the horse's vetting, arrival and care etc. Good luck with your search
Started looking for both at the same time. Found both within a gnats breath. Put deposit on pony. Livery fell through. Had a week to find somewhere else.
We've usually found the horse first!
40 yrs ago, the first horse, after we'd put down a deposit AND arranged that the vendor would deliver him, we had to ask a few local farmers if they had room for him. In fact we had a choice of 2 farms in the end.
Then just last year, although the horses are now at home, I bought a horse, put a deposit on her and had to ask the vendor to keep her until we built a new stable for her. Even then, the 2 ponies had to live out for a couple of days until the new stable was finished!
Probably the most sensible way would be to find a livery first.
