HI everyone looking for advice.
I have a tb (farther unknown) she lives out the moment. I was just wondering what rugs I should have on her in the day.
She has a 400g heavyweight turnout for night times and the day if it's cold/freezing. Im unsure what rug she needs to wear during the day when it warms up was thinking 250g?! The sun seems to be out in the day now but it's still chilly. Any advice would be great. She 3 in march thanks :)

My 21 TB is unclipped and he wears a heavyweight if its 1 or below, anything above I put him in a medium! up to 6-7 and he can have a lightweight!

To be honest, he has a heavy weight and a liner on today because its snowy and windy!

When it comes to rugging I really do think you need to look at each horse as an individual rather than generalising. Factors such as age, weight, feed, weather, shelter etc. should all be taken into account, for example my clipped Irish cob has been out in a LW with 100g liner for the last few weeks whilst most of his field buddies are in a minimum of a MW, this is because I know he keeps himself quite warm so anything heavier and he'd start to overheat.

Worry less about whether the horse is cold and more about their weight. If too thin or losing weight make sure they are warm enough without risking too hot and maybe increase feed and hay rations too. If too fat aim for the horse to never be even a bit too warm but a little cold is fine and will aid weight loss. If weight is just right and horse not over heating then you are doing ok no need to change anything.
