I have just had the results of a 5 stage vetting done on a horse Im thinking of buying and although the horse in question has passed, the vet has commented he has a slight roach back, which he said he didnt think would affect him to much but it was a personal preference thing (some people dont like it others dont mind). As I want to do a bit of everything with him DR, SJ and XC not up to a high level but Id like to affiliate.
I was wondering what peoples opinions were.
I guess if the vet thought it would be a problem he wouldn't of passed him?
Ive ridden the horse twice and find him comfortable to ride, there doesnt seem to have been any problem fitting saddles to him (hes on a big yard and they just used there spare tack), and he doesnt seem to have any back pain. He got 62.92% in his first Novice DR test and seems to have plenty of scope
Has any one else got experience of a roach back, what problems is he likely to have as he ages? Also will he be insurable or will they try and exclude his back as Im sure it will be mentioned in the vetting report?
Thank you for taking the time to read the above all opinions greatly appreciated
