advice - things that live in straw ?

Red spider mites maybe but they're usually about 1mm including the legs, or at least the ones I've seen are. Forage mites are bigger but beige. Are forage mites the same as dust mites? Forage mites change stuff into dust.

hmmmmmmmm I was thinking along the lines of bloodsucking stag beetles reduced in size by global warming, red due to excessive blood engourgement ?

They sound like the straw mites that cause a horrid crustiness to my goats legs when they get infected. I would think they are capable of causing it in other animals, though neither of my horses ever suffered yet, was always bedded on straw from the same source. Louse powder helps, but I find a good thing to rub in their legs is a good pyrethroid based sweet itch lotion. I think the oily base suffocates the pesky things and the pyrethroid kills them and their eggs.

I got a product called fly free zone, you spray it on all the Walls and bedding, so far it seems to be dojng a great job of keeping creepy things away
