advice wanted, especially cob owners

He is absolutely gorgeous, what a nice mix of breeds cob and suffolk-lovely, he is a chunky boy, outside of the no no's you mention i can only think more exercise and a starvation style paddock, good luck

some restricted grazing and a good excercise plan will soon sort that tummy out!

well suffolks are kinda built like that, very deep chests, but he does need to lose a fair amount of weight i would say, i just worry so much about laminitis, i have a lammi prone girl and i always want and need to keep her slender to help lessen the risk, not sure i would say he is obese, but he does need to lose a fair amount imho, all the best, i know its very hard with such good doers, he really is a lovely looking boy though, just my type of horse, its a shame a little excess weight can be so detrimental, good luck anyway

I think he looks just right.

Having a deep girth and short body can make them look tubby, but I don't think he is. He hasn't got fat hanging over his forearms or cellulite on his bum, nor does his neck look cresty from what I can see. Would say he's in good shape for a heavy-weight.

He's a bit fat IMHO, could you restrict his grazing? I have a cob who lives off thin air too, she is on a bald patch all night and comes in to a section of hay during the day.

He looks a similar size (belly-wise) to mine and I would say that unfortunately they're both a bit on the chubby size. I've just bought mine a grazing muzzle.

He's beautiful though, and he's never going to be a skinny little thing because it's not in his breeding!

He's a nice horse, not obese but rather large in the belly area! He could do to loose a bit of weight, is he on good grazing at the moment as he looks to have rather a grass belly which shouldn't be too hard to get rid off once the grazing becomes poorer. Then again if he's been like this for awhile he'll find it harder to loose weight but not impossible, as long as you don't tell us he's already been on a starvation paddock for months and barely gets any hard feed! In which case, good luck!

He is not obese nor fat for christs sake he is a suffolk punch cross! A heavy horse cross a cob. That will make a heavyweight cob and his body scoring looks spot on for that.
He looks perfect to me so don't worry about it

If you cant restrict the grazing or keep a muzle on him I'd up his work load gradually. I agree he isnt' obese but with some propper muscle tone he'll look better
