I have had an ex racer for about 9 months now and most of its going well we are hacking out on our own and starting to do a bit of schooling. However lately he is becoming increasingly strong.
He is currently ridden in a Korsteel french link and flash noseband, but whenever I am working him in the school or trying to get him to soften and bend he just goes along head in the air with all his teeth showing and as much as I try to just sit in and ride him from my leg whilst keeping my hands soft he really is just taking the p**s out of me.

I dont necessarily think I need anythng stronger? but what can I do to counteract the head in the aiir and teeth showing ??

I am also fiinding it really hard to find an instrucor at the mo so am doing it pretty much by myself.

Had this problem with my share and he was in a french link loose ring. He's now schooled in a dutch gag but on the snaffle ring so basically a hanging cheek.

This combined with hardly using my hands and breathing deeply and slowly, concentrating on relaxing helps. Alongside loads of lateral work and bending because it's hard to ballance with his head in the air for these. And lots of stretching down long and low.

As MrsM says a change of noseband might help if he is uncoumfy with his breathing or has a fleshy mouth as they use different pressure points, the grackle might be best imo.
