Could my pony have eaten the twist in top of a snackaball? We have had a borrowed one for a while which didn't have a lid that he had got on fine with but lady needed it back so I bought a shiney new lik it ball. Got home filled it up put lid in and gave to pony, seemed happy rolling it around and snuffling around for nuts. This morning the thing is trashed, tons of kick marks and scratches and the twist in top is missing. I searched when I mucked out but couldn't find it. Now I'm completly worried the silly thing has eaten it and spending all day at working worrying. Lady is checking him for me later but could he have eaten it? Or just hidden it very well? I will be fine tooth combing later

I suppose its possible but if it puts your mind at rest my lot are aggressive with their treatballs (not ones with lids) and yet when the treats come out they hoover them up nosing aside even tiny pieces of straw the treats have landed in on the floor with their muzzles. I think its probably more likely hes hidden it he even may have bashed it against the door/ wall and it flown out into the yard, a next door stable if possible etc. Have you also looked inside the ball? Though i would presume it would rattle. If you search the H & H forums people have posted about this before, seems quite common for lids to go walkies some found some not but none eaten by the horse I believe :)

I did do a quick search but didn't have much time at work. Thankyou for your answers. I am big panicker anyway so just made my mind think of the worst. I'm sure I will find it in little pieces later

Check the bedding!

You will probably find it chewed and broken in the bed! My lad is famous for this! You can buy spares from the snackball company!

Have bought loads over the years!

I always wondered by I see spare snackaball lids for sale, now I know!

Ive had one since they came out (when was that, the 80's?) and its still got the same lid.

Its probably buried in his bed somewhere :)
