Just wondering about how to go about arranging a clinic at our yard, and looking for advice from anyone that has done it before.

Eg. How did the clinician charge - per person (eg rider, spectator) or did they just charge a flat rate to the yard owner?
Did the yard owner charge for using facilities.
Plus, any idea on what is the going rate for clinics?

Any help gratefully received.

At previous yard, the clinician had a flat rate per person - venue then added facility hire on to that price I think. :)

Each do it differently though - I know some venues who asked 10% of the total amount made etc and the clinician got the rest.

I think everybody is different, and most trainers/clinicians are open to flexible options too, I charge a day rate which can be split between participants, or paid for by one organisation or party like a riding club. I'm always happy for spectators, and have worked in a series of one on one horse/owner sessions, or organised a clinic for the day around a few 'school' horses and more participants, like long lining. It depends on whether the clinic is looking at skills sets or is specific to the horse owner combination working together. Either way, if you have some willing participants, get in touch with the clinician and most will be happy to tailor something to your needs and interests. So far, only known of yard owners wanting paying if the clinic is stopping other revenue such as riding lessons or arena use.

I think you will find many variations, a while ago I used to run a few, the trainers charged a set rate per hour, this was divided by how many were in a group along with a charge for the use of the school and facilities.
If doing private lessons it will obviously be more expensive for people to take part than in a group situation.

The last I attended was with a 4star event rider, group lesson but only 2 were in it, cost £45 for about 11/2 hours.
