I don't think we have done this for a while so is worth repeating.

Add your hints and tips for when viewing or trying a new horse

I'll start you off, when viewing the horse ensure it has access to water and can drink if it wants to as dehydration can have a big impact on behviour and is quite a common trick to make lively horses appear quieter

I'm pretty new to buying horses so I'll be reading this with interest!

So far I have learnt:

If it isn't right and you aren't keen don't feel like you have to ride it.

After getting bucked off one that I was simply too polite to say "no not interested" from the ground I'm now quite happy to make an excuse and leave.

Watch someone else ride it before you get on.

If looking for a first horse or pony, take an experienced eye with you.

Ask direct questions and get specific answers.

Listen to any nagging doubts!

If you're not interested, for any reason, let them know and walk away. And if you say you'll call, call!

:)

Be honest with yourself in regards to whatever discipline (sp) you are buying for, I.E:
If buying for showing good conformation a must, If its for dressage it needs to move well, etc etc...
