Advice - would you jump?

Just worrying about my pony! What would you all do?!

I have a jump lesson tonight but he was knocked/kicked im not sure Sunday afternoon, it was a slice about 2cms long on the outside of his leg in between the knee and fetlock, he wasnt lame, was hosed straight away.

He has been out every day since in a small paddock, and the swelling has gone down each day, he had some bute Sunday night and Monday morning. I rode himf or a walk Mon night, then had a trot and a little canter last night out hacking, still sound and sweeling completely gone, just a small risen area where the cut is. He hasnt been lame at all.

Would you have a jump lesson tonight?

If he hasn't been lame and it's not swollen, it's not on a joint (so not likely to be pulled open) and not too deep then I would. I'd make sure it was kept clean though and didn't get surface in it.

Digby has had a couple of cuts and garzes recently that have risen around the cut but not lame or swollen and i have ridden him but just been careful

Just wash it carefully afterwards and give an easy day tomorrow!!!

Providing it looks ok when he comes in later I will then, will cold hose it afterwards and just give him a walk Thursday

I have worked in various racing yards where they would not hesitate to race a horse with a newish cut as long as it was not lame from it or deep enough that the wound would be pulled open.

They would just stick a dressing and some vetrap over it to keep it clean.

So I wouldn't worry about a jumping lesson as the others say. Just make sure that you have covered it to stop any of your arena surface/ mud getting in.

My horse had a cut which sounds similar to yours. I took him for a lesson afew days later. Instead of boots, i used bandages as they would keep the area clean, and the arena surface out. My horse was fine.
