Pony has a lump on the inside of his near hind leg...looks like half a egg has been stuck under the skin !! He hasnt shown any signs of lameness and there are no signs of injury/trauma to the area. I think its a splint.

Spoke to the vet and he thinks the same and just said cool it down with hosing and rest until the heat goes.
I wonder if anyone has any experience of a splint in the early stages and what you did.
He is turned out 24/7 with his friend but wonder whether I should keep him in to aid recovery or whether it is better to leave him as he is. It has cooled down over the week since I first noticed it and we haven't ridden since so I'm hoping all will end up ok.

Keep hosing and keep resting until the splint has settled. Some people reckon Splintex works but is does cost a pretty penny. The splint will settle down and become inactive in it's own time and may well reduse in size. Until then I think it's safe to say your reduced to watching paint dry lol!

Thanks for the ideas .. I've seen bone radial so may try that ...boring yes !!! Especially when his rider is pre teen and hormonal and desperate to ride again !!!
