Hi all, am looking for something to pad under the front of my mare's (air filled)saddle slightly as although it fits well she is a bit hollow either side of her (fairly high) wither. Does anyone have experience of the above, or would you recommend something else? Thanks.

The Mattes correction system is the only rememdial pad I'll work with. Foam can bounce, gel doesn't alleviate pressure and can cause heat spots. The Mattes pad has four pockets, can be think cotton, or lined with wool or sheepskin (my stock items are wool lined, helps a little with shock absorption and wicking). The shims for the pockets are thin felt which can be trimmed (for lifting the front or th eback of the saddle you need to make the pile of shims into a wedge shape so there is no ridge under the seat) and are very stable. Not cheap but a brilliant tool to have in the tack room and can be used as a regular pad. If you order direct from Mattes you can have the system added to any of their pads.
