Aes grading mares

Hi

I am new to the breeding lark I will confess but I have tried hard to do my research and have purchased a few nicely bred dressage fillies/ mares I have a nicely put together Johnson x gribaldi 3 y.o mare that I think is suitable for grading but tbh I dont have a clue as to the process. Obviously I want to set myself up for success rather than failure — so what research / training should I do prior to entering her? Any advice appreciated

I don’t think there's much point- AES is not a sought after studbook so won’t increase her value and there don't seem to be any benefits (eg SHBGB give covering vouchers for top grades mares)

Which is sad then because british bred foals cant be registered as kwpn any more can they (i have other kwpn mares)

In that case then perhaps you can get her over stamped with the SHB(GB) and get her graded into the main stud . Still not as commercial as a Keur/ Prok grading , but a lot better known than the AES.
 
For dressage I wouldn’t go AES or SHB - have a look to see if you can go British Hannovarian. They also do ridden performance testing.

Sad state of affairs when the same horse has different commercial potential based on a bit of paper.
 
I’ve just checked out the kwpn website and it says “Every summer, the KWPN travels to the UK to conduct inspections which are open to its members and their horses. These inspections provide an opportunity for KWPN mares to be registered in the studbook and for foals, yearlings, and two-year-olds to be evaluated by professional inspectors”

if this is any help! Suck a shame if this is an outdated post on their website as my mate is already registered and her foal will also be KwPN…
 
I have a feeling that post brexit all new passports issued have to be a UK PIO which rules out the continental warm blood registries. Which I personally think is a good thing.

However I don’t know if this means you can or can’t overstamp/grade with a foreign registry provided the primary passport is British. I think this commercially is really only seemingly important to the dressage crowd

Ah! Yes, you are probably right there! I wouldn’t intend on selling the foal anyway so it really isn’t that important where or how it is registered. I’m just hoping for a similarly good egg ?
