Hi,

This may be a daft question, but I have tried contacting AES studbook for an answer and have received no reply. I have been looking at potential stallions to put my mares in foal to this season once they have foaled and know of a nice stallion personally thats youngsters suit eventing or showjumping and are incredibly trainable, with lovely temperaments just like their sire. The stallion was licensed AES but it now appears struck out with the term"ARCHIVED" next to it. What exactly does this mean? Has the license been revoked? Therefore making it unsuitable to use the stallion if you would like to register the offspring with the studbook?

There is probably a very straightforward answer but I was just wondering what the implications are.

Many Thanks :-)

Sorry, I'm no help as I don't know the answer, but I hope that's not the case as I used a stallion last year that was AES approved and I see he is also 'archived'. I have been issued with an AES covering certificate though, so hopefully I'll be able to register the foal with no problems.
I hope someone else might have a satisfactory answer!

If the stallion owners have not paid their annual fee they will be archived as long as you have an AES covering certificate registration will not be an issue . If not you have a problem and you will need to take it up with the stallion owner.

As popsdosh says, it could be just that the stallion owner has not paid the fees. This is the case with Amour G at the moment, I paid for him to be AES licensed alongside his WBS-UK and SHBGB licensing in order to offer mare owners AES papers, however nobody seemed to want them over the others so it seemed stupid to shell out money unnecessarily.
