I'm looking for a medium weight turnout that doesn't rub the mane/withers or chest as sensitive mare will end up with bald patches, especially on the mane as she has sweet itch! She is a 15.2 ID x TB (6ft 3 rugs) so has a fairly broad chest but I often find that the necks are too low, please could I have recommendations for an affordable standard neck rug?

I find that Gallop rugs fir my Draft horse and the cob , who both have big shoulders and broad chest pretty well. They are very good value for money and last well unless your horse is a rug-wrecker. They are cheap enough that you don't need to expect them to last for years.

Ruggles all the way. They have 50g, 100g and 200g turnouts which fit well around the neck so they limit dripping down the shoulders, but have plenty of room for adjustment.

Just remember most of the cheaper rugs are only 600 denier. Try to get one that is at least 1200 denier or more as it will last longer.
