Its been 4 months since her bilateral OCD op and after the hell of box rest and the even bigger hell of box rest with 10 minutes walk out twice a day followed by prolonged hell of box rest with 20 minutes walk out twice per day, we have now reached the end of her small paddock rest and have put her in a larger paddock (by herself) and she had her first 25 minute long rein out on Sunday which went surprisingly well. She remained sound throughout even though we had a scary moment on the new horse bridge on the bridle path (muppets have used wooden planks and these are, funnily enough slippy when wet), and the horror of bumping into the Grannies hiking group, I arrived back at the yard in one piece albeit knackered and very very chuffed!
Hot chocolate with sprinkles for those who got this far!

Nice to hear all the hard work was worth it. The box rest is the easy bit isn't it - it is the walking in hand and rehab that is the nightmare:D Good luck for the rest of the rehab.

Ugh, so feeling the re-habbing pain! My large, bolshy Welsh D mare had a unilateral op, and I had to box rest for six weeks I think, then when the snow and ice came it was time to hand walk - for up to an hour a day! Capriole, levade and piaffe/passage on ice was NOT fun!
