Well fingers crossed! i have fractured my scaphoid/ wrist and also have strained my ligaments and finally hoping they will say it can come off and i can ride a little bit :) not supposed to be riding until my neck is fully healed but hey ho so no going stupid but still will be happy to have a little ride .... ermm question, when i had it taken off 2weeks ago i could not move my wrist! will they give you something to support it or something? obviously going to be so weak from being in cast so long :/ but im just scared im going to tweak my wrist and end up in pain :o or am i being a whimp :-P lol

Think I'd probably build the strength back up in my wrist for a couple of weeks before riding. I'm sure the hospital will give you some exercises are send you for physio.

I know your don't want to wait another couple of weeks but if you ride too early you could do more harm than good long term then, it would be even longer out of the saddle.

Sorry to hear about your wrist :(
I broke mine in three places and was in plaster for only five weeks (apparently as i had full arm plaster it has to come off or elbow knackers)
it came off three weeks ago and couldn't believe how useless it was.
I was given a wrist support bandage which i must wear if driving etc
Have lovely strong painkillers for the days its giving grief.
And i have a load of exerices i do daily and they have made a huge difference.
Bad news was i'm not allowed to ride for six months :( and to be honest i don't have the strength in it to ride safely anyway.
Good luck with it but try to let it heal properly as it will come back to bite you :o

Can you not ride with one hand? x just go for a little walk and trot and hold the reins in one hand? get some help putting the saddle on and off you gooooo!!! x

They gave me a splint to wear but moving it is impossible at the moment they are giving me pysio in a week or soo, erm my mare is being kept fit with lunging and my mum riding her she is quite fast so not worth the risk i guess for 2more weeks x

It does take quite a while to fix, I smashed mine up so badly they wanted to whip it off! Thank god for an amazing surgeon, who was up for trying to save it. I was given lots of support things and a proper 'splint' which held it in place but i wasn't allowed to drive for 3 months. I did however, have a few sneaky rides out etc on my lovely mare and just rode with one hand. Do you have any metal in it? I did and the Surgeon told me if I were to fall off whilst it was in my wrist, my arm would actually be stronger than if I fell on all of the rubbish broken bones! Good luck and make sure you work reeeeeally hard at physio, thats the key! I only have 30% movement in mine but even thats better than predicted, a great physio is an amazing piece of kit! xx
