I don't post much on here but nearly 2 years ago i posted after my then 4yr old was badly spooked by a speeding rattling trailer in a narrow village where he bolted, tried to jump a hedge into a garden and ended up somersaulting into the road (the driver just drove off). I've put this up to give some hope to those who have had anything similar after we had a lovely ride today. It took over a year to leave the yard again, he was petrified of all vehicles even parked in the yard, wouldn't do dressage with the judges cars or xc with fence judge cars. I ended up giving him polos off the bonnets! We then progressed to tiny hacks with him on the strongest hole of a gag and a short martingale so he couldnt bolt, hacking with a steady hunter who pinned him into the hedge when anything passed. Slowly slowly we have worked up to hacking alone, he still gets nervous when cars go through puddles or we meet lorries but he is now able to get fit to event and flew his BE100s this year
. I decided whilst sat up at the gallops on him that actually, we must have done something right for once!
