this might sound a silly question and all but at what age is a horse classed as a horse? if you get me?!

Its not the age that classes a horse its the size. Anything over 14.2hh is classed as a horse.

colt and filly foals
colt and filly yearlings
then when they turn two they are mares geldings and stallions (horses)

not official its just what seems to make sense to me

In racing, colts turn into horses when they are 5yo. Same as fillies turn into mares.
