How friggin silly can one be??? I can demonstrate just how silly - washing rushing after coming in from work, and plop, my phone fell out of my pocket and into the toilet. aghhhhhhh, not insured, bye bye photos, it was a samgsung galaxy sII, so i used it as a camera too.
It's taken apart and is in a bag of rice at the moment, to try and dry it out, but I'm not holding my breath. could kick myself, if the kids did it, i'd go nuts, but i think i could end up in a straight jacket if i start shouting at myself. back to the crappy old phone.. :( :( :(

Was just about to say, bag of rice. The OH fixed phones and you'd be amazed how often this works if you get it fast enough. Wrapped in a towel on a (turned on) radiator also is effective.

Bag of rice does work - my YO has dropped her iphone down the toilet twice in the last month. Not sure you should of taken it apart though ? Take the sim card out for definate. It took overnight for hers to dry out (she keeps hers in her back pocket hence managing to drop it twice)

At least you hadn't actually been to the toilet

How annoyining I'm really sorry - honest we've all been there and I've had such a crappy day with my new boy that it made me smile to remember that moment of utter frustration when you look down and it's in there:o

If it's any consolation, I dropped my Samsung Galaxi Mini in a tub of water the other day. I had things set up for painting....and dropped my blooming phone in the tub that I had just filled with clean water. TOTALLY immersed .
I grabbed it out within about a second and dried it straight away with kitchen paper towels (again, these were set out for painting). Switched it off and left it to dry properly before tenatively checking to see whether it had died or not.
I cursed myself for being so stupid..but my phone still works :D.

As above. Just be careful and DON'T TURN IT ON! It's electricity that ruins damp electronics as the water shorts components.

I regularly wash my keyboard. If the keys start to stick, into the sink it goes and out with the Fairy Liquid. I am quite serious, but I do make sure it is thoroughly dried before use. I usually suspend it over the wood burner which is always a good conversation piece.

Funnily enough, I've often felt tempted to drop my mobile down the loo!

Thanks guys, when i say take it apart, i mean, took out sim and memory card, took back off and put phone and battery into the rice, so hopefully it will work again. Good lesson for me though, just hope phone comes back to life. (cant even remember how to use old phone).
Having a bad day, lots gone wrong, after dropping phone into toilet, was down town, to buy cigarettes and do the lotto, and after paying for pony yesterday, am broke... walking into the shop, dropped all my change all over the place, lost 4 euro, (and i had counted it out). So no fags, need to win the lotto more, lol!!!! Please, please let tomorrow be better!!!! :)

I shook mine till no water cam out then removed all the bits i could and put it on the radiator

A bowl of rice might do it or failing that just give it time!

Reminds me of a funny story.....year and years ago a (now ex) boyfriend came to stay over at my house (my parents place). My mum and dad had just bought a lovely 'flat screen' tv (one of those ones that were flat screened but massive at the back). We had both gone out on the night and got rather drunk.....the next day the lovely shiny new telly wouldnt work and was sat in a wet patch. He had only gone and wee'd on it!!! :o A week later it worked fine!

He wasnt very popular for a while......

Love it, georgiegirl, at last stuff happens to other people

I dropped mine down a portaloo at Badminton! Tempted to retrieve it but feared my hand would come out stripped to the bone judging by the dark blue product coloured water! Either that, or I would pick something else out!!!

I killed my mobile last week by dropping it im a big pile of cow poo..........woops....hope yours dries out....x

Well......I dropped my car keys in a mobile loo at a horse show. Yep, they were in my back pocket so when I pulled down my jeans they must have fallen in, didn't realize I'd lost them until I couldn't get in the car. Racked my brain thinking where I'd been I went to the loos and they they were lying at the bottom of the loo with something else!!!! It was one of those key fobs too and it didn't work.

Hope you're phone works :)

It might be ok. I dropped my phone into a fish tank from a height, it was in there for about 20 seconds while I tried to get it out. Wouldnt turn on. I took it apart and put it on the aga, worked again by the next day!

My iPhone was charging and the cat knocked it into the water bowl whilst charging - good job cat didn't drink the water ;) that phone died :(

I then dropped my new iphone down the toilet it submerged fully but only for a second - it still works fine no problems with it although had to dry it to get water out the camera!
