Hi all,

I havent ever posted in here before, but hope someone can help.

My sister does agility classes with her dog (staffie cross). Her 30th birthday is coming up, and I know she would really like some agility equipment as a present.

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy a starter set from, that isnt hugely expensive. I have already tried websites such as ebay and preloved, and was hoping to get a new set from somewhere!

Thanks in advance

If you can't find any equipment within budget then perhaps see if there's a local field that gets rented out, with agility equipment in place, so you could book her a few practice sessions? Or perhaps some photography sessions, it seems quite popular in the agility world and some photographers get the agility ring to themselves for a set amount of time (or have their own venue & equipment) to do a photo session. Not quite equipment but a nice agility-related keepsake at least?

Thanks to both of you. Krlyr - great suggestions, but she already goes to weekly group and her husband is a prof photographer so she has some superb photos already proudly on display :-)

Have a look on agility net, they have a for sale section and you might be able to pick up some basic equipment.

Agree- although agility equipment is expensive! I got a set off of ebay a few years ago- just very simple- 6 weave poles that converted into 3 jumps. They have been great for practising with and only cost about £26 including postage- so very affordable.
Also hyperdrug have some cheap agility equipment at the moment I believe, and a flyball box!
Good luck finding something! :)

you can get cheapie fun stuff from the likes of robinsons but really, proper equipment is ££££ you are talking about £1500 for a complete set!! Have to say i dont know many people with equipment that would rent it out for a practise session either. Does she compete, or plan to? If she does, she may not want the 'fun/cheaper' stuff either as it's always better to train using the same regulation equipment you find at shows.

i get all my stuff from here

you could have a look on agilitynet in the 'shop' for some other agility related gift ideas... personalised clothing or leads?

I made my own jumps / weave using plumbers pipe and T sections, it cost me about £20 for a 6 pole weave and 4 jumps
