Hi All

Just got my pictures from the professional photographer at Poppy's first agility outing last week and just had to share them!! Sadly he only had one photo of her from each of her 2 runs but here they both are....

We only started training in this February at an outdoor place so we have not been every week due to weather and Poppy having 4 weeks off in the spring when in season. More recently we have been trying to go twice a week (weather permitting). Last Sunday was our first competition but we were running Not For Competition at Medium height rather than the Large that she will measure to for KC competitions. The only obstacle she is not yet ready to do in competition are the weaves. We are training on V weaves and we do not quite have them upright yet. Our trainer does not think it will be more than a few weeks before she can do them though.

Our next entry is another NFC at medium and then we will run competively in November at a UKA Steeplechase at Standard height which she just measures into.

I think it will take longer for my handling to be up to competition standards than it will Poppy!!

Great pics. Look forward to meeting you at KC shows next year then!

Yes hopefully - just got to finish training on the weaves and put her jumps up to KC large height over the winter!!

Thought I might as well also use the winter to get some competition experience NFC at medium and UKA where she can run standard. Might help me learn to handle her better as well!!

My youngster (18 months in 2 weeks) has got the weaves, it's the seesaw we're having big trouble with and I don't think she'd stay in the ring at a show yet either, so we'll be working on that over the winter, but we may do a few independant shows to give her a bit of ring experience this winter, so may see you at some of them. I'll have a lilac/white BC with 'naughty' spots, so if you see us say hi!

They're lovely pics :D

I was due to start back training at the end of the month but as I've since broken my ankle and my fibula I won't be doing anything for a while, so jealous muchlies lol

Oenoke: Poppy only got the seesaw 2 days before the show. Before that I could only get her to stay on it if she had a piece of sausage right in front of her nose leading her over!! I had originally planned on ignoring it as well as the weaves but now she has clicked she if fine and is now starting to gain a little confidence on it as well!! We'll be at Louandi Agility in October and UKA steeplechase at Witney in November if you are there!

echodomino: Thanks! So sorry to hear about your leg - read the post dedicated to you earlier. Hope you get better soon and up and about again.

UKA are fab shows, bit more laid back than KC.

Lol thanks, so do I, I'm not a sitting still person but in hind sight using a milk crate as a mounting block probably wasn't the wisest move to start with lol.

Good luck for next month!

Star won't even go near a seesaw, we've just about got her going over a plank with a pole underneath it! It's going to be a long slow process, but I'm in no rush, even if she just does jumping classes and helter skelters next year. I haven't entered any shows with her yet, I'm competing at Five Rivers this weekend with Skye, then I'll see what shows are around for Star.
