Had enough of waiting for response from BE forum so thought I'd try here. I want to use something for my mare when she first starts to come in season i.e. now! She is not difficult so I don't need a 'calming' supplement as such but something that will ease her discomfort. At this time of year she seems to be tender on her back which results in her rushing her fences (she also struggles with her dressage but I find this manageable). I know that she will improve as the summer progresses but she is a handful in sj phase (by the time she goes xc the adrenalin seems to take over a bit and we are going hell for leather anyway) and after eliminating other factors I am quite sure it is discomfort under saddle. Sorry - long and rambling. If I use chaste berry (either by itself of in mare supplement) will I fall outside BE rules? I know rule book states no herbal calmers (although I am fairly sure there will be many falling foul of this one) but will that extend to chaste berry? Would like to use stroppy mare but I think this has velerian which is banned or pure chaste berry, but think this falls in valerian category also??
