Hello
The saga continues with Lil .....

So, it has been 12 weeks since she cut her leg open, and the wound is doing ok... Just battling with scabs and proud flesh! She gets turned out in the morning into her own field (with grass) and she can see plenty horses.

Lately, she has started going mad after a few hours out and she has to be brought in. I'm actually thinking she has developed a fear of the outdoors!

Has anyone else experienced this?
Thanks

There are many horses that really need company, seeing others is not the same as being with them, with your mare it is likely that she settles for a while as there is grass to eat but once she has had her fill she then panics as she feels alone, which in reality she is , could she have another horse or pony in with her?

My mare is the same when box rested. I cannot put her in a small individual paddock as she'll eat her fill and then fence run endlessly getting increasingly stressed.
It's safer for her to go straight out with the herd.

She's the only mare at the yard. All the horses that she could maybe share with are in the summer fields which are ages away and while she is under vet supervision she can't go across to them, but there is not enough grass for more horses in her field.
I'd like her to be brave and once she's got a smaller wound she can maybe go out with other horses :(

I wouldn't expect one of mine to stay on their own they are flight group animals after all. How well do u get on with the other owners? Could u not ask around to see if anybody would turn out with your mare as long as u bring their horse in if you get yours in a bit early? Sort things between yourselfs?
