Hi,
Has anyone come across agoraphobia in a horse. I have a horse that when you put her out she will try to knock you over to run away. She will then fixate on something like the water tank and then run to it and run back and forth in panic. Very distressing for her and to watch. When she was bought she was fine but over the years it has got worse. She is 110% in everything else. Any ideas? Thank you

Could it be anything to do with her eyesight?

Sorry, welcome to the forum

ditto Chillipup - could it be her eyesight ? What does your vet say ?
Our vets will advise over the phone free of charge, though I suspect a visit is necessary.
Might be worth posting your question in the Veterinary or Horse care Forums here .
Hope you soon find the answer and the solution Averil.

Hi there. I will speak to my vet but I dont think it is. The reason being she doesn't do it all the time. I can get her quite calm if I put her in the same place. When we move grass it starts all again. If I move the electric fence and it goes out just that bit too far it upsets her . The reason I dont think it is her eyes is that she is excellent cross country. You point her she corrects herself, never dips out. She is only 15.1hh on tip toe but has gone open at Hartbury. I will speak to the vet though
. Thank you for your thoughts. Averil
