My boy has stopped eating his hay, but still seems hungry.

We have gone through several different bales (wasted!). He will eat haylage a bit more willingly - BUT he has suspected ulcers so haylage is a bit to acidic to change him over to (and it sends him loopy).

He will eat hi-fi lite in a bucket so he's not just a bit full from eating the grass all day. He will finish most of his dinner too.

The problem I have is I need him to keep eating to not worsen the ulcers but he is just going on hunger strike!

Help!

You can try soaking the haylage.
TBH my ulcer horse is on ad lib haylage and it doesn't do him any harm at all.
You could also provide him with bucked feed of Hi-Fi or similar, there are chaffs suitable as hay replacement.

I second the idea of trying a hay replacer if you are worried and need him to eat something.
You mentioned you had gone through several different bales, where they the same batch?
Can you try get a supply elsewhere?
