My big lad was too heavy at the end of the summer... so i planned on using the winter to reduce his considerable girth down to the lean mean munching machine i want him to be.... well we were going well until this week when we have been ice bound... after a week of standing in a stable eating hay i am sure he has doubled in weight and i will be honest its been minus 10 most nights and yep i did rug him with a light weight rug.... mainly because he is in an open stable in a barn that drips water when it starts to "warm up"....
will i ever get him thin and maybe i am wrong but to starve him when all around are being fed ad lib seamed a little harsh especially when we have not been above minus 4 for most days.
aghghgghhghghghgh - he must be the horse version of me !
