Ahhhh! Bites and scabs!

Is anyone else having problems with their horse getting what I think is bitten by something? My boy keeps getting lumps across his bum which then turn hard and scabby and leave a nice bald spot!
I am presuming they are some fly bite, although he is not bothered by them even when pressed...any ideas or thoughts???

ive got lots of bites but not sounding like those sorry. fed up with summer already, i know i know shouldnt say that but m legs have come up in sympathy with my horses bites as ive 2 nasty mosquito bites looking rather infected

We have exactly the same problem with our section A and I'm hibbiscrubbing like mad to get it cleared up.
