So I am taking Tash to her first show and my first show on Saturday! We are doing 2 x in hand classes and I am pooping my pants :O

We have to be at the show ground for 7.30am so will be up at the yard around 5am. Tomorrow is bathing day but she has massive feathers and I doubt they will stay clean in the field overnight :( but I won't have time to give them a full wash on Saturday morning, will just have time to touch them up. I think I am more nervous about her staying clean than anything else!!

Positive vibes my way please!

Good luck :D :D Put loads of mane & tail conditioner in her feathers to try and stop any dirt sticking! :)

Thanks for the tip!

I have started taking rescue remedy drops to try and calm me down - I am being so silly, just need to chill out! :p

I think it will be better when I am at the yard tomorrow and I can get all my stuff organised - sitting at work thinking about it is driving me nuts!

Me too. Every time I'm going to ride ! Shows... I'd need a pint minimum. Good luck. :)

A little advice for keeping her clean buy some chalk powder pour a bit into a bowl mix it with water it turns into a nice white paste you can make it as thick or as thin as you like by adding more or less water rub it into your horses coat on all the brown spots rub it in his feathers it works magic! the day before leave him in a stable over night if his nirmally out and put leg wraps on his legs keep them clean!! :) good luck you will be fine it's your first show jut enjoy it there's no pressure to win everything and come home with loads of rosettes just relax and imagine you riding at home :) you will love it I was nervous for my first show but trust me you really don't need to be just enjoy it if things go wrong just laugh about it you know what to do differently next time :) good luck :)

As long as you have done all your preparation you'll be fine - don't stress so much or ponio will pick up on it! I quite agree sitting at work worrying about all that has to be done is bound to be tying you up in knots, I know it always used to happen to me. Could you possibly leave work a bit early the weekend of the show to give yourself a bit of extra prep and calming down time? I always used to find that helpful, even if the show wasn't until Sunday, those couple of extra hours were a godsend. I used to have a practice at how I planned to plait him up, trotting up for the judge (even better if you can get a friend to play 'judge'), finding everything I knew I would need and putting it where I could put my hand straight on it, even part loading the trailer with things like empty water buckets and the trailer jack, waterproofs etc and putting some shavings on the floor. All little things that tend to catch you out in the blurry world of 5.00 in the morning.

The most important bit of course is on the day itself, and my only advice there is to stay positive, keep your eye on the prize, have fun and don't be too disheartened if a rosette doesn't feel the need to attach itself to your bridle! There's always another show and another judge!

Thank you! The show is this Saturday and I have the day off work tomorrow so plan to be at the yard super early to get all my stuff organised and get Tash bathed :)
