Ok so last month my loony TB tried to get fruity with a mare in the field next to his and resulted in him scraping his hind legs to shreds on the sheep wire fencing. Fortunately the wounds were all superficial and after a week of bute anti-biotics and rest (And a bill of £130 from the vet) he came good again. The wire fencing in question has never caused any trouble in the past, but after a very bolshy, strong and ill mannered cob tested every post to it's limit trying to get to better grass last year all its been looking a bit tired. So YO has now put electric tape on this run of fence and so far my lad has been giving it a wide berth. So yesterday I see my boy by another line of the fence reaching over to get the better grass from the resting field. I know this is naughty of him but in his defence the wire should be high enough to discourage this but afore mentioned cob had pushed this section down. This morning I arrive at the yard to find that George has pulled of a front shoe and low and behold it's sitting right by the wire fence where I saw him reaching over for grass. The thing I'm most cross about is that I have been asking my YO to sort out the fencing for months. The section where George has pulled off his shoe has electric wire along it, but since being trashed by said cob it hasn't worked. Now yet again I'm faced with the bill for sorting out my poorly boy and only now will they sort it out in case the same happens to one of their horses! I love near enough everything else about this yard and I would hate to have to move George but I'm starting to get right royally peed off! Coconut macaroons and coffee if you've got this far, I just needed to let of a bit of steam!
