this is driving me mad !!!

ok bit daft really but im getting slightly stressed by this !! so i have entered my yearling in to our county show,his first ever show as well,now ive been told on another forum that i should pull his tale,plait his mane and chop all his feathers off,he is a welsh part bred and will be going in the part bred class,but why do these rules have to be so stricked !!!!!! my OH is saying why do i have to chop all his hair off and im saying because that is what hes meant to be shown as,then again i have seen pics of part breds shown natural,i dont really want to chop all his hair off either though !!!!!!!!

his feathers don't need to come off but they do state that they should be plaited
